Rebuilding Filipino Community
For several years, we have been supporting a community in Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. Lives have been changed through church and community programs. Sadly, Typhoon Koppu struck in October 2015 - the devastating effects of which are still being felt across the Philippines.
The community we love in Mindoro, likewise lost their meeting place in the typhoon. Their place to meet together as a family... to share in each other's burdens... and for their children to learn and grow together.
What are we doing about it?
We want to help in building a community centre - which would incorporate a meeting hall, community rooms and living quarters for a property caretaker. Benefits that this centre will bring include:
- supporting nearly 150 members (plus create opportunities for others to join);
- creating a meeting place for families, children, youth and young adults;
- engaging wider community to improve health and well being of the village;
- providing income to the community by way of outsourcing the venue
