Part of the Adopted series, preached at a Pulpit Series service
Romans 8:14-17, 1 Peter 1:3-4. In this tag-team sermon, Leila Halawe and Susan Moore consider the hope that adoption gives us. Jesus has changed everything about how we relate to God. No longer is He the distant God, He is Father and we are accepted as children. This is the heart of our inheritance from God which we did nothing to gain, our life's response is to receive by grace and embrace all He has for us.

14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, (ESV)
